Who are these qualifications in phlebotomy for?
The GA Awards in Phlebotomy are ideal qualifications for learners who are working in, or preparing to work in, a clinical environment where obtaining venous blood samples is part of their role. These qualifications enable learners to gain an understanding of the relevant theory, practical and professional requirements of conducting phlebotomy procedures and subsequently gain competency in carrying out the phlebotomy procedure in the workplace in line with relevant occupational guidelines and legislation. The GA Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practice of Phlebotomy covers: • the legal and professional role and responsibilities in phlebotomy • anatomy and physiology relevant to the phlebotomy procedure • the venepuncture procedure protocol and post-phlebotomy procedure protocol The GA Level 3 Award in Phlebotomy covers the content of the GA Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practice of Venepuncture, plus: • preparing to carry out the phlebotomy procedure • carrying out the phlebotomy procedure • carrying out post-phlebotomy procedures
