What do these qualifications cover?

These qualifications are suitable for those starting a journey in veterinary care or those who wish to advance their career in an existing role as either a Veterinary Care & Support Assistant, or as a Veterinary Receptionist.

The GA Level 2 Award in an Introduction to the Principles of Veterinary Care Assistance (Small Animals) and the GA Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Veterinary Care Assistance (Small Animals) - These qualifications are designed are designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and understanding required to work as a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA).
The GA Level 2 Diploma for Veterinary Care Assistants (Small Animals) - This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding as well as practical skills in working as a VCA, with a requirement for work-based practice.
The GA Level 3 Certificate in Veterinary Reception Skills - This is a comprehensive qualification designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and professional skills needed to excel as a veterinary receptionist. Learners will master communication and customer service skills, consider the principles of working as a Veterinary Receptionist, learn about administration and veterinary practice operations, preventative animal health care, and animal triage and first aid. Learners will also develop their knowledge and understanding of the euthanasia process and how to provide bereavement support.

The GA Level 2 Diploma for Veterinary Care Assistants (Small Animals) is endorsed by the Association of Veterinary Animal Care Assistants (AVACA), which provides a wealth of resources for both individual VCAs as well as those who train and support them. Holders of this qualification are entitled to a year's FREE membership with the AVACA. The GA Level 3 Certificate in Veterinary Reception Skills has been developed in partnership with the British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA).
